julien descherre studio is a french design studio founded by julien descherre,
who lives and works in Paris.
curious and passionate, attracted both a theoretical and practical approach,
he studied successively history of Art and especially history of Architecture
(he obtained a master’s degree at the university Paris-IV-Sorbonne in 2007).
then he is trained in cabinet making and marquetry in Boulle school in Paris,
where he learned, among many other things, respect for material used and
work done perfectly.
mindful to make a synthesis of this rich and varied course, he joined
in 2011 EnsAD Lab, the research laboratory of Arts Déco’s school in Paris,
in SAIL (science and art of light-material-color interactions) program,
in which he focuses on optical phenomena such as reflection and refraction
observed in water and then translated into glass material.
as a result with this research activity, he opened his design studio in 2012,
working as much on industrial design projects (furnitures and products)
as well as on limited editions and conceptual projects.
he finished in 2019 a PhD (CNU section 18) in the PSL program SACRe
(Sciences, Arts, Création, Recherche), at ENS Ulm,
working on the ethical relation between design and earth.
